Belated Congratulations to Falcon Sponsored Charity Event, Eastwoods Pepper Golf Day

Eastwoods Pepper Golf Day - Sponsored by Falcon

Falcon would like to send its belated congratulations to Janet Edwards and Joe Collier, the organisers, and everyone else who participated in this year's Eastwoods Pepper Charity Golf Day held at Ashbridge Golf Course in Hertfordshire almost two months ago now (!). The day, which was the most successful yet, raising a total of £21,300 from sponsorship and an auction, sees the golf event through its fourteenth incredible year, all in the name of support for the care of terminally ill children. One of the highlights of the day was the auctioning-off of a still photograph from celebrated TV comedy series, Only Fools and Horses, capturing possibly one of the most hilarious moments in British televisual history, Del Boy very swarvely falling through the bar at a wine bar. This item alone bagged a fanastic £1000 for the Foundation....

About the Pepper Foundation

Mic Controller announcing at the Eastwoods Pepper Golf Day sponsored by Falcon

Most children and their parents take a healthy relatively care-free childhood for granted. Sadly the lot of some young people is not so straightforward. Terminal illness blights the lives of a significant number of young people and their families, for whom life can just never be the same again. The Pepper Foundation is a registered charity which provides funding for a dedicated team of children's nurses managed by The Iain Rennie Hospice at Home Service (IRHH). The Pepper Children's Nurses provide much-needed professional and loving home care to seriously ill children on a 24 hour, 365 days of the year on-call basis, throughout the Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire area.

The Most Successful Golf Day Yet!

Falcon, along with a number of other local businesses were able to respond to the valliant fundraising efforts of Janet Edwards (acting on behalf of Eastwoods Butchers) to provide sponsorship for one of a number of holes on the Ashbridge course. These sponsorship commitments along with others who generously provided the auction gifts, enabled Golf Day organisers to raise a staggering £21,300 for this year's event. The lot which undoubtedly stole the show, was a still photograph from the show, Only Fools and Horses, donated by Pepper Foundation supporter and renowned English actor, David Jason. The still depicts one of the most memorable events in TV history, David's character, Del Boy, collapsing through the walk-through section of a London wine bar. The winning bid for the photograph raised a fantastic £1000 for the Pepper Foundation. Other notable Pepper Foundation supporters include food critic, Nigel Barden, ex-Watford football player, Luther Blisset, former Wrexham and Chelsea goalkeeper, Eddie Niedzwiecki and England Rugby Sevens squad member, James Rodwell, who all took part on the day. The winners of the tournament itself (not to be forgotten!) were the Corian Crusaders for the team event, Jim Pettigrew in the mens and Marilyn Barratt in the ladies.

Janet Edwards herself sums-up the success of the day,

"It was our best ever. The weather was glorious. It lifted everyone and they bid fantastically in the auction. We are £2000 up on last year - it just gets better and better every year."

Falcon, a local Tring and national supplier of photocopiers and multifunction printers is proud to have been able to support the Eastwoods Pepper Golf Day in 2011 and wishes the Pepper Foundation every success in its incredibly valuable work in the year ahead.
