The Optical Character Recognition module can 'read' the text information contained within a document for several possible functions.
- Indexing ScanFile fields with the information. As an example, supplier invoices may be automatically read and the key search information be automatically input into the Scanfile index fields. It might well be that you would wish to retrieve your supplier invoices by Supplier, Invoice Number or Tax Date. Scanfile OCR can read the information from the appropriate zoned areas on the invoice once the document has been set up for identification purposes (forms recognition).
- Copy text from scanned pages into Word (or other applications) for editing purposes to then be saved as a new file.
- For searching for keywords or phrases contained within your documents, type in the word or phrase and Scanfile will display all documents that contain them.
