Canon received a record number of awards for its document imaging solutions at this year’s BLI 2011 ‘Pick’. The independent document imaging technology testers recognised Canon photocopiers/MFP’s including the already multi-award-winning imageRUNNER Advance photocopier series but also singled-out two Canon scanners, its scanning solutions as well as Canon Document Management software. In the ‘network scanning’ category, the ScanFront 300/300P Canon scanner was awarded ‘Outstanding Network Scanner’ and Canon’s flagship output and workflow solution uniFLOW 5 was awarded ‘Outstanding Network Output and Workflow Management Solution’. The Canon imageRUNNER Advance Essential package for imageRUNNER Advance photocopiers series was selected by BLI as 2011’s ‘Outstanding Desktop/MFP Output and Workflow Management Solution’.
During the BLI’s latest rounds of product testing, the ScanFront 300/300P Canon scanner showed itself to be a truly impressive machine – with competitive scan speeds, a user-friendly intuitively designed user interface and excellent media handling capabilities to boot. Designed for walk-up and stand-beside use and for the very highest levels of user accessibility, the ScanFront 300/300P Canon scanner offers an incredibly large colour touch-screen display and virtually unlimited personalised user scan profiles. For those network environments which require a higher level of security, the ScanFront 300P Canon scanner also provides administrators with the ability to restrict access to the scanner via fingerprint authentication. Lisa Reider, BLI’s Senior Product Editor for Scanners commented on the ScanFront 300/300P Canon scanner,
“If there’s one thing you can say about Canon, it’s that it knows how to make an easy-to-use device. In addition to the nearly endless supply of one-touch buttons, users can customise the control panel as they see fit. It would be mighty hardy to loose your way using the ScanFront series.”
Sean Saematsa, Canon Europe’s Document Scanning Solutions’ Director commented on the ScanFront 300/300P Canon scanner,
“To win BLI’s ‘Pick’ Award for the Outstanding Network Scanner is a fantastic testament to our continued investment in developing strong product lines that fully reflect our customers’ needs…. With its advanced scanning features, ultra sleek design and one-touch scanning functions, the ScanFront 300/300P Canon scanner offers the very best combination of features that really make it stand out from the crowd. We are very proud to receive this recognition from BLI and we are confident that as we expand our portfolio, we will achieve the same level of success in the future.”
uniFLOW is the Canon modular solution that offers cost control, complete print management, job routing, scanning workflow and document security features, among others. uniFLOW has been specially developed for Canon photocopiers and devices and is sold exclusively through Canon resellers, offering all the components that could be required to meet the needs of organisations both large and small which are looking for a high performance output and workflow management platform. There are 13 uniFLOW modules available so organisations can choose as many or as few options as they require, from features such as ‘follow-me’ printing or ‘secure print’, an accounting and chargeback component and rules based document routing.
On awarding the prize to the Canon uniFLOW 5.0 workflow solution, BLI Europe’s Laboratory Research Manager David Sweetham commented,
“The breadth of output management requirements uniFLOW can fulfil makes it unique among the document imaging solutions BLI has tested to date…While the modular nature of the platform may seem daunting at first, the big advantage of uniFLOW 5.0 is that it allows customers to have a single unified solution to handle a range of tasks that would otherwise require multiple software packages…”
Sam Yoshida, Vice President and General Manager of Canon USA, commented,
“Building upon Canon’s legacy of providing leading-edge software solutions, Canon is thrilled to be recognised with the 2011 Outstanding Network Output Management Solution ‘Pick’ Award… uniFLOW 5.0 further enhances the capabilities of the uniFLOW Fleet Management System, offering IT managers an easy-to-integrate tool that facilitates enterprise level control of document management costs and greater scalability options.”
For smaller organisations with more modest requirements than uniFLOW addresses, Canon offers the imageRUNNER Advance Essentials suite. The imageRUNNER Advance Essentials suite provides a trio of tools there to enhance imageRUNNER Advance photocopiers users' experience and device management capabilities. Canon imageRUNNER Advance Desktop is a PC-based application that enables greater end-user productivity, allowing imageRUNNER photocopiers users to capture, combine, re-order and print projects using finishing options available on any imageRUNNER Advance photocopiers on a network. imageRUNNER Advance Essentials Workflow Composer features both PC and MFP components and allows administrators to simplify workflows by grouping multiple tasks into one workflow, accessible through the touch of a button on the user interface. The package’s tracker programme is resident to photocopiers and tracks users’ output, helping administrators to reduce costs and waste.
James Bsales, Senior Product Editor at BLI commented,
“Canon imageRUNNER Advance Essentials delivers a potent mix of tools for end users, administrators and managers within an organisation…Many businesses will find that the functionality delivered by each component will go a long way to increasing productivity and reducing costs.”
